Install DreamSampler
Download the Instrument plugin and get it loading on a MIDI track in your DAW.
DreamSampler is the Instrument plugin for macOS and Windows, shipped as a native installer — a macOS .pkg or Windows .exe. It installs the VST3 (plus the Audio Unit on macOS) and a standalone app; your DAW recognises it as an instrument you can put on a MIDI track.
On macOS
- 1Open the downloaded
.pkgand follow the installer (signed & notarized). - 2Pick which formats to install: VST3, Audio Unit (AU), and the standalone app are all pre-selected — deselect any you don't need.
- 3Open your DAW and rescan plugins so it picks up the new instrument.
On Windows
- 1Run the downloaded
.exeinstaller and follow the prompts (it needs administrator rights). - 2Choose which components to install: the VST3 plug-in and the standalone app are both pre-selected.
- 3Open your DAW and rescan plugins.
DreamSampler shows up wherever your DAW lists instrument plugins — drop it on an instrument/MIDI track, not an audio track.
