Instrument transformation
Turn one instrument into a different one — same idea, new identity — in real time.
Not everyone is a multi-instrumentalist. DreamSampler regenerates your part as something else, live: load a guitar part or a horn line as your seed, keep Structure up while you turn Timbre down, and the instrument underneath changes while it's still playing — same timing, same phrasing.
How to do it
- 1Bounce the part you want to transform to a file (for example, a guitar solo).
- 2Add DreamSampler to an instrument track, click
Connect, and feed that part as the source. - 3Prompt for the target instrument —
solo trumpet, warm cello. - 4Keep Structure high to preserve the timing and phrasing, and turn Timbre down so the instrument's character changes.
- 5Play it back in Classic mode (or 1-Shot) and use Strength to push how far it moves from the original.
- 6Record the transformed take to a new audio track.
Tips
- Structure = performance
- High Structure keeps your timing and phrasing intact so the part still feels like yours.
- Timbre = identity
- Lower it to move the instrument itself — a guitar solo becomes a trumpet version.
- Audition first
- Try the alternate instrument live before committing, with no re-tracking.
Same timing, same phrasing — a different instrument.
