Is there a music generation API with a free tier?

Yes. Every Daydream account gets 10 songs a month free, through the API, the MCP server or the generator page. The Songs plan is 500 songs a month for $4. A song is one request, with one or two versions, up to two minutes.

How do I get an API key?

Sign in on your Daydream dashboard (https://app.daydream.live/dashboard/api-keys), press Create and copy the key; it’s shown once. Send it as Authorization: Bearer <key> on every request.

What comes back?

An MP3 (192 kbps) and a WAV (16-bit), stereo at 48 kHz, and five stems as lossless FLAC: drums, bass, guitar, keys and other. The stems are made with the song, not split from the mix, so they add up to it exactly. The audio links need no key and don’t expire.

How fast is it?

A song takes a few seconds once it’s next in line. Poll GET /v1/songs/{id} every 2 seconds until its status is done. Up to three songs can be in line at once.

Can I ship the key in my game or app?

No. A key can do anything on its account, so keep it on your machine or your server. Make the music in the editor, a build step or your backend, and ship the files or the links.

Can I use the music commercially?

Yes. Every song is royalty-free for commercial games, videos, streams and apps, on every plan, Free included.

How do I move from the ElevenLabs Music API?

Change the address to gen.daydream.live/v1/songs, send your Daydream key as a Bearer token, give the length in seconds rather than milliseconds, and poll for the song instead of waiting on the request. Every field, mapped: https://daydream.live/developers/switch-from-elevenlabs.

Is there an OpenAPI spec?

Yes: https://gen.daydream.live/openapi.json. It describes every endpoint, for code generators and AI agents.

Can I use it without an account?

Yes, by paying per song: $0.05 in USDC over HTTP 402, with no key. See daydream.live/for-agents.
