Switch from ElevenLabs in one request
Instrumental music from the ElevenLabs Music API moves to Daydream’s with a new address, a new key and the length in seconds. Every song comes back with its five stems.

What changes, field by field
ElevenLabs’ side is from its API reference and pricing page, as of 27 October 2026. Every Daydream cell opens its section of the docs.
Poll instead of waiting
ElevenLabs holds the request open and sends the audio. Daydream answers at once, so a slow song never times out your request: ask for it again every 2 seconds until it’s done.
Examples in JavaScript, Python, Unity and Godot// JavaScript
const api = "https://gen.daydream.live/v1";
const headers = {
Authorization: `Bearer ${KEY}`,
"Content-Type": "application/json",
};
let song = await fetch(`${api}/songs`, {
method: "POST", headers,
body: JSON.stringify({ prompt, duration: 60 }),
}).then((r) => r.json());
while (!["done", "failed"].includes(song.status)) {
await new Promise((r) => setTimeout(r, 2000));
song = await fetch(`${api}/songs/${song.id}`, { headers })
.then((r) => r.json());
}
const { mp3_url, wav_url, stems } = song.takes[0];What Daydream doesn’t do
- Sung vocals and lyrics. Daydream makes instrumentals; words asking for vocals are dropped from the prompt.
- Tracks longer than two minutes. Make several at one bpm and key and join them, or loop one.
- Composition plans, section by section. Describe the shape in the prompt instead.
- Rewriting a section and matching a reference track. Both are in Daydream Studio, and not in the public API yet.
For people making music by hand rather than from code, the comparison is Daydream vs ElevenLabs Music.

Is there an alternative to the ElevenLabs Music API?
For instrumentals, Daydream’s API: POST a description to gen.daydream.live/v1/songs and get back an MP3, a WAV and five stems. 10 songs a month are free, 500 are $4 a month, and an agent with no account can pay $0.05 a song. The ElevenLabs Music API is $0.15 a minute of music, as of 27 October 2026.
How much cheaper is Daydream than the ElevenLabs Music API?
For a two-minute instrumental, the ElevenLabs Music API is $0.30 at $0.15 a minute, as of 27 October 2026. On Daydream it’s $0.05 paid per song, or under $0.01 on the Songs plan (500 songs for $4 a month), with the stems included.
Does the Daydream API return audio directly like ElevenLabs?
No. It answers at once with the song as JSON, status queued. Poll GET /v1/songs/{id} every 2 seconds until the status is done, then download the MP3 or WAV from its stable link, which needs no key. The stems follow a few seconds after the mix.
Can I keep ElevenLabs for vocals and use Daydream for instrumentals?
Yes. The two don’t share anything, so you can send songs with lyrics to ElevenLabs and background music, loops and stems to Daydream from the same code.
Can I use the music commercially?
Yes. Every Daydream song is royalty-free for commercial games, videos, apps and streams, on every plan, Free included, and you own it.
Is there an MCP server, like for agents?
Yes, at gen.daydream.live/mcp. Claude, ChatGPT and Claude Code make songs through it with the same allowance as the API, and can make one stem again with the other four unchanged.
