Daydream vs Udio
Daydream Studio is a browser-based studio for hybrid music production: session players follow your part, chords and groove while it plays, you change any part as it goes, and every part comes out as its own stem. Daydream Songs makes a finished instrumental track from a description, with the mix and every stem. Udio makes songs from a description, vocals and lyrics included, and lets you edit, extend and remix them inside Udio.

Which is better, Daydream or Udio?
It depends on whether the music has to leave the app. Udio sings, and Daydream doesn’t. But Udio’s terms, last revised 12 November 2025, say you may not download copies of any output or use it for any commercial purpose, on any plan. If you need a file you can put in a video, a game or a release, use Daydream: in Studio you make the track yourself and export every part as its own stem; Songs is $4 a month for 500 instrumental tracks with unlimited downloads. The free plan includes 3 downloads a month and commercial use.

Use Daydream if
- You need the file. Udio’s terms don’t allow downloads on any plan, as of 20 October 2026; every Daydream plan has them.
- You want to make the track yourself. Studio is a DAW in your browser: record or hum a part, book session players who follow your part, chords and groove while it plays, change any of them as it goes, then arrange, mix and export. Studio comes with Free, Pro and Max.
- You want to use the music commercially: in a video, an ad, a game or a release. Everything you make on Daydream is cleared for commercial use, Free included.
- You want every part as its own stem, on every plan, Free included.
- You want your own sounds in it. On a Mac, Studio runs your own VST3 and AU instruments and effects on any lane, in the browser, through a small helper called Studio Bridge.
- You want to own what you make, copyright and all. Daydream’s terms assign it to you on every plan, Free included, take no cut and ask for no credit.
