Daydream vs Suno
Daydream Studio is a browser-based studio for hybrid music production: session players follow your part, chords and groove while it plays, you change any part as it goes, and every part comes out as its own stem. Daydream Songs makes a finished instrumental track from a description, with the mix and every stem. Suno makes songs from a prompt, vocals and lyrics included.

Which is better, Daydream or Suno?
It depends on whether you need vocals. For sung vocals and lyrics, use Suno: Daydream makes instrumentals only. If you want to make the track yourself, use Daydream Studio: session players follow your part while it plays, every part comes out as its own stem, and on a Mac it runs your own VST3 and AU plugins. If you need royalty-free instrumentals to download, Daydream Songs is $4 a month for 500 tracks with unlimited downloads; Suno Pro is $10 a month with 20 downloads. Daydream Free includes commercial use; Suno Free doesn’t.

Use Suno if
- You want a song with sung vocals and lyrics. Daydream makes instrumentals only.
- You want more songs for free: Suno Free gives 50 credits a day, Daydream Free 10 songs a month.
- You want to add new vocals to a song you already have (Suno Premier).
Use Daydream if
- You want to make the track yourself. Studio is a DAW in your browser: record or hum a part, book session players who follow your part, chords and groove while it plays, change any of them as it goes, then arrange, mix and export. Studio comes with Free, Pro and Max.
- You want your own sounds in it. On a Mac, Studio runs your own VST3 and AU instruments and effects on any lane, in the browser, through a small helper called Studio Bridge.
- You want every part as its own stem, on every plan, Free included.
- You need royalty-free background music for a video, a game, a stream or a podcast. Songs makes an instrumental track from a description, cleared for commercial use on every plan, and $4 a month gets you 500 tracks with unlimited downloads of mixes and stems.
- You want to use free music commercially. Everything you make on Daydream is cleared for commercial use, Free included.
- You want to own what you make, copyright and all. Daydream’s terms assign it to you on every plan, Free included, take no cut and ask for no credit.
Questions
- Does Suno limit downloads?
- Yes. Since 3 September 2026, Suno Free has no monthly downloads (up to 7 for the life of the account), for personal use only; Suno Pro has 20 a month and Premier 60 a month, per Suno's help centre as of 20 October 2026. Daydream's Songs, Pro and Max plans have unlimited downloads, and Daydream Free has 3 a month.
- If I cancel Suno, can I still use my songs commercially?
- Yes, for songs you downloaded while subscribed: Suno's terms say the commercial rights you had stay with those songs after you cancel, but downloads drop to the free plan's limits, as of 20 October 2026. On Daydream you own what you make, copyright and all, on every plan: the terms assign it to you irrevocably, take no cut and ask for no credit.
- Is there a Suno alternative with unlimited downloads?
- For instrumentals, Daydream Songs: 500 tracks a month for $4, with unlimited downloads of mixes and stems, cleared for commercial use. It makes instrumental music, not vocals.
- Can I use music from Daydream's free plan commercially?
- Yes. Everything you make on Daydream is cleared for personal or commercial use on every plan, Free included. Suno Free has no commercial rights.
- Does Daydream make vocals or lyrics?
- No. Daydream makes instrumental music. In Studio you can hum or record your own part, your voice included, and session players play along with it.
