The ring
A live picture of what the engine is doing to the buffer.
Three things are drawn: the ghost is your source, the terrain is the transformed result, and a slice is a section you can hold to play. Strength moves the terrain away from the source, Shift changes where the detail lands, and Seed reshuffles the pattern.
Why it matters
It's the only continuous read on the engine. Once you can see Strength push the terrain off the ghost of your source, the knobs stop being guesswork.
